Brian's comment: I am always changing and mixing the modes and chords simply to give a different shape to the improvisation. 
Originally I played over a c7 #9 chord, and sometimes alternated that with a bb minor 7/9 chord to get away from the original 
key for 8 or 16 bars before returning to the original key.
